Obituary of Anna Martha Kerth

October 18, 1934 – March 10, 2024

Anna passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at the age of 89 at Freeport Hospital, where she had worked as a Nurse’s Aide after coming to Canada.

She is survived by her sons Andrew (Janet) and David (Kimberly), brother Wout Brands (Heinie), and a large and loving extended family. Anna was predeceased by her husband Bruno, her siblings Aartje, David, Jan, and Diny, and their spouses.

Born in Kampen, The Netherlands, Anna immigrated to Ontario in 1960. She lived a full life and was fiercely independent right up to her last days. In Kitchener, she met and married her husband Bruno, and together they raised two sons, of whom she was so proud.

Anna was a feisty, kind and caring person, always attentive to the needs of others, and she retired early to care for Bruno until cancer ended his life. She had a generous spirit, giving to numerous charities, and working as a community fundraiser for various causes. She loved travelling, especially to see the natural wonders of the world, and enjoyed playing board games and puzzles. Anna also had a passion for knitting, needlework, and cross-stitching. Above all, she loved her family and spending time with them brought her great joy. She will be deeply missed.

Special thanks to nephew Bert Korenberg and neighbours John and Donalee Jensen for their support and compassionate care. As well, thanks to the 6th floor staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and the Palliative Care Team at Freeport Hospital.

A private burial will take place, and a drop-in Celebration of Anna’s life will be held at her own home on Saturday, March 16, 2024 between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family and donations to a charity of your choice may be arranged through www.erbgood.com.
