Glen Walker

Obituary of Glen William Walker

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Glen Walker, aged 83, on March 25, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Helen, and his devoted wife, Theresa. He will be dearly missed by his children Andria, Russell and Lisa (Bradley) and his beloved grandchildren Taylor (Chris) and Samuel.

Glen was born and raised in Toronto but met the love of his life while attending the University of Waterloo. He and Theresa started their family in Toronto where he served as a Toronto Police Constable before finding his calling in the insurance industry. Opportunity returned them to Waterloo and they never looked back. He spent the rest of his successful career in his adopted hometown, eventually rising to the position of Vice-President at the Economical Insurance Company.

Glen was a real character with a wicked sense of humour and a big heart. He was a dedicated member of his community, serving as President of Oktoberfest and volunteering for the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Waterloo Minor Hockey Association, among others. He especially loved the simple things such as watching a Blue Jays game, solving a challenging puzzle or driving through the countryside on a beautiful day in search of a good meal. Throughout his life, he shined most brightly when surrounded by his loving family and many friends.

Special thanks for the care given over his last weeks by the health teams at Hygate, Grand River Hospital and the palliative team at Hospice Waterloo Region.
