Obituary of Margaret Ethel Harris

Margaret Harris (Gordon), known as Peggy, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at home in Waterloo, ON, with her husband/life partner of 65 years by her side.

Peggy was born on January 6, 1940, in the Toronto Beaches to Herbert and Edith Gordon. Peggy is survived by her loving husband James, children Karen (Lance), Kathryn (Don), Kristin (Drew) and Jamie. Proud grandmother of Sarah, Emily, Stephen, Jessica, Hunter, Jacob, Chad, and Kyle. Great-grandmother to Charlotte, Finley and Cameron. Dear sister to Bruce (Donna) and Joanne (Terry).

Peggy and Jim raised their family in the Beaches and east end of Toronto before moving to the Kitchener/Cambridge/Waterloo area. They traveled extensively with the Lions Club of Canada. Peggy was the recipient of the Helen Keller Award for her dedication for service from the Lions Club International. Her service of others continued where she volunteered with community services to deliver meals to meet the needs of others in the community of Cambridge. Peggy was known for her charitable work and her unwavering love and loyalty to her family. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the Doctors, Nurses, and care providers from Clair Hills and Home and Community Care Support Services for their exceptional care, compassion and kindness for Peggy and family. 

A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at Erb & Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street S., Waterloo, on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Personal tributes will be made at 2:00 p.m.
